Stokes, English Vernacular Script, ca 990–ca 1035, Vol. 2 (PhD Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2006)
Although Ker described the vernacular script as ‘square’,Ker, Catalogue, p. 239 (no. 184) most of the Old English in this hand was written as interlinear glosses with a very thin pen and with the small bodies and long descenders more typical of the early eleventh century. Long s, single-compartment a, concave-down d, and rounded, open-tailed g occur throughout. Descenders are normally straight, but can turn left.
